Founder Honored With Hometown Hero Award From Best Buddies
As the founder of MasterCraft, Chris Shee has long been recognized for his leadership, philanthropy, and commitment to giving back. Through charitable initiatives such as Clays for a Cause and Concerts for a Cause, Chris and the MasterCraft team have supported numerous community programs, raising more than $1 million over the past decade for local nonprofits and charitable organizations.
This dedication to service was recently recognized when Chris was honored with the Hometown Hero Award from Best Buddies, a global nonprofit focused on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The hometown hero award celebrates community leaders whose philanthropy and leadership create meaningful, lasting impact.
Best Buddies’ hometown heroes program empowers individuals with disabilities—including Down syndrome, autism, Fragile X, and others—by providing opportunities for friendship, job placement, and independent living. As a respected community founder, Chris has been a longtime supporter of the organization’s mission to break down social, physical, and economic barriers.
Chris was first introduced to Best Buddies Florida in 2002 through a friend whose daughter has Down syndrome. “Her joy and zest for life were magnetic, and her family has been truly blessed by the support of Best Buddies,” he shared.
As an active supporter of the organization, Chris hosted the Best Buddies Friendship Ball at Heritage Farms’ Tringali Barn—an event that brought nearly 400 students together for an unforgettable evening. Beyond providing the venue, Chris helped coordinate transportation so more schools could participate, reinforcing the spirit of community leadership, recognition, and inclusion that defines a true hometown hero.
Today, Best Buddies operates nearly 400 chapters statewide, with volunteers impacting more than 111,000 individuals through programs that promote friendship, employment opportunities, and personal growth. These efforts highlight the power of philanthropy, charity, and strong community partnerships.
